Los Angeles, Kenya: Netizens from all walks of life have been touched by a letter full of gratitude left behind by the Iranian team to the USA, where they called for peace, respect and friendship.

The team was one of the best from the Arabian Gulf who made it to the World Cup, which is being played in Canada, Mexico and the USA, but they haven’t been having a very easy time.

In some instances, the team was made to leave the USA soon after playing against New Zealand in the country. Iran, which has had political tensions with Donald Trump’s United States for a while now, is based in Tijuana, Mexico.

Their head coach Amir Ghalenoei slammed the decision as the team continued to face hurdles in their World Cup campaign.

What did Iran’s team’s letter say?

Iran in the handwritten note, Iran called for peace, respect and friendship, and they left it in their changing room after their goalless draw with Belgium.

It read: “From the ancient Persia of thousands of years ago to the civilised Iran of today, the spirit of Iran remains alive and steadfast. We came to Los Angeles with pride, competed with honour, and leave with dignity,” read the note.

“Thank you Los Angeles for your hospitality. And thank you to every Iranian who gave their heart, voice and soul for Iran throughout these 180 minutes. May peace, respect and friendship prevail among all nations,” they added.

The note also had “#168” and “#Minab” written on it, referencing an attack on a girls’ school in Minab where at least 168 people were killed on the first day of the war

Egypt denied entry into US city

In another story, Egypt had to release a statement after their entry into a World Cup city was denied despite them putting forward their request to enter.

The pharaohs, who had just bagged their first win at the World Cup, wanted to start their preparations for the next game early, but sadly it was a hard no for them.

After those plans were thwarted, Mohamed Salah’s side was forced back to the original training base ahead of their final game.
