The conference will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including Tokunbo Philip Wahab, Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Lagos State.
Others are Olukemi Ogunsakin, Head of Corporate Communications, Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility at Guinness Nigeria; Ginikanwa Frank-Durugbor, Head of Communications, Brand and Events at Lafarge Africa Plc; Dr. Samuel Ayetutu, FNIPR, Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos Chapter; Rotarian Bola Adewumi, Past President of Rotary Club of Ikeja Central; and Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).
The organisation also confirmed the participation of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) in the forthcoming Conservation Communicator-NG Conference and Conservation Walk.
The events form part of the Nigeria Conservation Race (NCR 2026), an initiative spearheaded by Addefort Nigeria in collaboration with local and international partners to commemorate World Environment Day while advancing environmental sustainability and climate consciousness across Nigeria.
This year’s World Environment Day theme, “Climate Action,” highlights the urgent need for collective efforts to address environmental challenges and accelerate sustainable development initiatives.
Activities will begin on Thursday, June 4, 2026, with the Conservation Walk for a Cleaner Environment, scheduled to commence at 8:00 a.m.
Participants will walk from Allen Avenue to Alausa, Ikeja, concluding with a reception at LTV, Ikeja. The walk will feature environmental awareness campaigns and community clean-up exercises aimed at promoting responsible environmental practices.
The celebration will continue on Friday, June 5, 2026, with the Virtual Conservation Conference, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. under the theme: “Climate Action in Nigeria: Challenges and Opportunities.” The conference will include keynote presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions designed to explore practical solutions, foster innovation, and encourage sustainable environmental practices.
Speaking on the initiative, Olabamiji Adeleye, Lead Consultant at Addefort Nigeria and Convener of the Nigeria Conservation Race, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
According to Adeleye, the conference will bring together environmental experts, government officials, corporate executives, media professionals, youth advocates, development partners, and sustainability practitioners to exchange ideas, share best practices, and strengthen partnerships for effective climate action.
The Conservation Walk is expected to attract volunteers, government agencies, corporate organisations, development partners, environmental advocates, and members of the public, united in a shared commitment to environmental cleanliness and sustainability.
Addefort Nigeria therefore calls on stakeholders and the general public to actively participate in both events, reinforcing collective efforts toward environmental protection, climate resilience, and the creation of a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable Nigeria.
