NAF airstrikes eliminate scores of terrorists, destroy hideouts in North-West

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded a major operational success in the North-West, carrying out a series of airstrikes that reportedly killed numerous terrorists and destroyed key criminal hideouts.

The operations, conducted by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, were executed on June 18 and 19 as part of ongoing efforts to weaken armed groups and improve security across the region.

According to a statement issued by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF spokesperson, the missions were based on actionable intelligence and involved precision strikes, surveillance flights and armed reconnaissance activities aimed at supporting troops on the ground.

Ejodame said one of the operations targeted a verified terrorist enclave within the joint operations area, where air assets successfully struck strategic positions used by criminal elements, significantly disrupting their activities.

In another mission around the Kidandan axis, military aircraft reportedly engaged suspected terrorists after identifying their movement through intelligence-gathering efforts.

Several of the fighters were said to have been neutralised during the operation.

The Air Force also carried out follow-up surveillance over the Fatika and Sabuwa areas, where assessments indicated no immediate signs of renewed terrorist activity.

Aerial monitoring, however, remains ongoing to support security operations in the affected communities.

NAF said the latest operations highlight the military’s commitment to combining intelligence gathering with precision air power to limit the movement of terrorists and strengthen the effectiveness of joint operations.

Reaffirming the service’s operational strategy, the Air Force noted that close coordination between air and ground forces remains critical to achieving lasting results in the fight against terrorism and banditry.

The military pledged to sustain its offensive against criminal groups while continuing efforts to safeguard communities and restore peace across the North-West.
