Nollywood actress Toyin Adebola, better known as Toyin Tomato, has written a tribute to her late colleague, Kola Oyewo.
Kemi Filani reported hours ago that the veteran has passed away at 80. His junior colleague, Kunle Afod, announced his death, noting how Nollywood has lost a true legend. He said that Oyewo’s remarkable talent, timeless performances, and immense contributions to the Nigerian theatre and film industry will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Taking to her Instagram page to mourn, Toyin noted how he came, saw and conquered. She noted how death is inevitable, and one isn’t permitted to question God.
She described the deceased as a great dancer, lecturer, uncle, father, and grandfather. Toyin expressed how blessed she was to have been present at his 80th birthday.
Bidding him farewell, she said he would be greatly missed.
“ERIN WO!!!
Uncle K, as you are fondly called! You came, you saw, and you conquered. Death is inevitable, and we are not permitted to question God. You have gone to be with your Creator, and I am certain you are seated by His right hand: a great dancer, a lecturer, an uncle, a father, and a grandfather. How blessed I am to have been present to celebrate with you at your 80th birthday on the 18th of April 2026; that memory will linger forever.
The Balogun of Oba-Ile has gone! Labaluyeke has gone! Baba Adewale lo, baba Adeyemi lo, baba Adetoyese lo, baba Adegoke lo, baba Oluwatobiloba lo.
You will be greatly missed, my dear brother. Goodnight”.

A month ago, Afod had received praises from his colleagues over his show of love to veterans, Chief Kola Oyewo and Peter Fatomilola. The Yoruba actor visited the veterans’ house, where he paid his respects.
While speaking with Kunle Afod, Oyewo revealed that he couldn’t play sole roles again because of his illness, which had caused a major setback for him in the industry. Chief Oyewo revealed that the illness started with frequent urination, which led to lack of sleep, and after several tests, it was discovered that he had an enlarged prostate.
In other news, Toyin Tomato won the praise of many for her show of love to veteran Mama Mistura Asunmo, otherwise known as Iya 2d. The Yoruba star, alongside some of her colleagues like Toyin Adewale, Bose Akinola, and others, had built a new house for Iya 2d.
That wasn’t the first time Toyin had gone all out for Mama Mistura Asunmo.
When the veteran turned 80 years old in 2022, Toyin, who is her goddaughter had organized a birthday party for her. The city of Ibadan was on shutdown as the likes of Faithia Williams, Fausat Balogun, Toyosi Adesanya, Akin Boss, Rose Odika, and more supported the celebrant.
