A young woman named Eno passed away after being hit by a car in a convoy on the grounds of Rivers State University in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

On one of the university campus’s roads, the incident happened on Tuesday. Whether the deceased was a student of the university was not immediately apparent.

The vehicles in the convoy were purportedly driven by university students, according to sources.

Eyewitnesses claim that as soon as it became clear that one of the cars had struck the victim, some members of the convoy left the area.

According to a source, the police and security staff at the institution were quickly notified, which resulted in the closure of all campus exits in an attempt to stop the individuals involved from fleeing.

Two suspects, Onunaka K. and Daniel Ikechi, were later taken into custody by agents of the Nkpolu Divisional Police Headquarters, under the direction of Divisional Police Officer CSP Henry Ogbuefi, working with the university’s internal security team.

According to reports, the suspects were using a Mercedes-Benz E300 and a Toyota Camry Spider, respectively.

At the time of publication, the deceased’s body had been found and placed in a mortuary, and both suspects were being detained at the Nkpolu Divisional Police Headquarters in Mile 3, Diobu.

Victor Banigo, the university’s spokesperson, said that the institution was aware of the occurrence and promised to release an official statement at a later time.

Blessing Agaba, a spokesman for the Rivers State Police Command, verified the development in the meantime.

“The body has been recovered and placed in the mortuary, and two suspects have been detained in relation to the incident,” she stated.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated by the police.
