2027: Ogun West Groups Back Adebutu’s Governorship Ambition, Promise Votes

The governorship ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, received a boost on Wednesday as several political support groups, youth organisations and community stakeholders in Ogun West declared their support for his 2027 bid.

Thousands of supporters from the Yewa axis converged on Tetede Hall in Ilaro, where they endorsed Adebutu and pledged to mobilise votes for his emergence as the state’s next governor.

The groups, comprising PDP faithful and other political movements, described Adebutu as the preferred candidate for the governorship, insisting they were committed to delivering victory for him at the polls.

Speaking at the event, a leader of the Believe Movement from Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Chief Akinbami Lukman, said members of the group resolved to back Adebutu in what he described as the overall interest of Ogun State.

Lukman said the group had volunteered to work for the PDP candidate’s success and would ensure that every vote cast for him counted.

Also speaking, the leader of the Door-to-Door Foot Soldiers, Jimoh Azeez, expressed confidence that young voters would play a decisive role in the 2027 election.

He said, “We will mobilise, vote and stand by our votes. The ruling class should know that it is a new dawn. We are the ones on the field, and they will be shocked.”

Azeez added that the group would work to ensure what he described as Yewa’s aspiration for a “true son of the soil” became a reality.

Other speakers at the event commended the philanthropic activities of the Adebutu family, arguing that the PDP candidate had consistently supported the less privileged even without holding public office.

They expressed confidence that, if elected governor, Adebutu would prioritise people-oriented governance and ensure that the state’s resources were deployed for public good.

Representatives of the Awori community also endorsed Adebutu, saying their support was based on his perceived leadership qualities rather than political affiliations.

Responding, Adebutu thanked the supporters for what he described as an overwhelming show of solidarity, saying he was encouraged by the reception accorded him from the entrance of Ilaro to the venue of the gathering.

The PDP candidate reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Ogun West and the entire state, urging residents to express their choice through the ballot.

“I am happy with the determination I have seen here. Democracy belongs to the people, and they should speak with their votes. We have only one Ogun State, and we must protect our heritage,” he said.

Adebutu also paid a courtesy visit to the traditional council in Ilaro, where he was received by royal fathers before proceeding to the endorsement event.

The endorsement comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship election continue to gather momentum across Ogun State.
