As you begin work today as the first workday of the week, Governor Hyacinth Alia wishes you the best in all your daily endeavours.
Meanwhile, it has become essential to address some salient concerns, especially as well-meaning people of the state keep making genuine enquiries bothering on political developments in the state.
It is true that recently, unsettling narratives have been amplified by those whose interest lies not in the welfare of our lives but basically in politics of distortion intending chiefly for disruption.
For the sake of supporters and unsuspecting members of the public watching closely, we want to speak plainly: Governor Hyacinth Alia remains undeterred, focused, and deeply committed to the service of our state.
He took the reins of power and did not hide the principles of his mission. He made it crystal clear with a simple, powerful pledge; to put the people of Benue first.
From resuscitating, hitherto abandoned schools and industries, supporting farmers to improve healthcare and investing in critical infrastructure, his administration has refused to return to the old order or “business as usual.”
That shift away from entrenched interests and toward the everyday concerns of ordinary citizens, we are aware, has won attention and, for some, provoked resistance.
Furthermore, let there be no mistake: the disturbing security challenges we face are serious, and they are not peculiar to Benue. They reflect broader national trends that require clear thinking, firm leadership, and coordinated action.
Governor Alia understands this. He is working day and night with the central government, security agencies, community leaders, and our neighbours to strengthen responses, protect lives, and restore normalcy where it has been disrupted.
To the people of Benue State, it is our conviction to state that:
-Your Governor is not overwhelmed. He is engaged, present, and making the hard decisions necessary for long-term stability.
-He is not afraid. He has stood with you, the masses, the many; not the few, and that choice is necessitated by the belief; belief in the courage, dignity, and resilience of the Benue people.
– He has vowed not to be distracted by those who prefer turmoil to progress. Political attacks will not deter the ongoing work of delivering services, creating opportunities, and securing our communities.
We call on all citizens to remain calm, to be vigilant, and to support legitimate security efforts. Report credible information to the authorities, cooperate with community policing initiatives, and continue to embrace the values that bind us together.
Your Governor knows that leadership is proven in action, not in rhetoric. He consistently draws strength from the everyday stories of our people; a farmer who can now access markets, a mother with improved access to healthcare, and a young person given the chance to learn and work.
Those are the measures of success that matter to him, and he will continue to pursue them relentlessly.
A word to those attempting to undermine our progress through fear and falsehood: your tactics will not succeed. You will fail.
Benue’s destiny is not for sale and will not be decided by smear campaigns.
The people have seen the strides and will judge leaders by results, by safety, by jobs, by dignity.
Governor Alia’s administration remains open, accountable, and ready to answer concerns. Together, we will protect our communities and move Benue forward.
. Sir Kula, mnipr, is the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
