Boboye targets top-three finish as Insurance begin NPFL preparations

Bendel Insurance FC on Wednesday resumed preparations for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, with Technical Manager, Kennedy Boboye, targeting top three.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Edo State-based club held its first training session after the off-season break at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.

Addressing players and officials, Boboye said the club was determined to improve on its performance in the last campaign and secure a top-three finish in the new season.

He said the team’s ambition was to challenge for the NPFL title, stressing that commitment and discipline are key to achieving this.

He said: “I welcome everyone back and thank God we are back without health issues.

“Work has started and there is no room for indiscipline.

“We must do better than we did last season.

“The process begins today.

“We are expecting some new faces in the next few days, so we have to receive them as members of the Insurance family and work together as a team.”

Boboye, who took charge of the club in October 2025, guided Bendel Insurance from the relegation zone to a fifth-place finish in the 2025/26 NPFL season.

He said the club’s management had assured the team of improved welfare and urged the players to justify the confidence reposed in them with good performances.

“Management has assured us of improved welfare, so we have no reason not to deliver this time. We owe them and our fans victories and good football,” he said.

Boboye directed all retained and newly-recruited players to report to the club’s Government Reservation Area (GRA) camp in Benin on or before July 10 as preparations for the new season gather momentum.
