“CAC Goes Fully Digital” — Commission Launches Innovation Unit To Drive Paperless Operations, Faster Business Registration

The Corporate Affairs Commission has inaugurated its Innovation and Digital Services Unit as part of efforts to deepen digitisation, improve service delivery and reposition the Commission as a fully paperless organisation.

The new unit was commissioned by the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, alongside members of the management team.

Speaking at the commissioning, Magaji said the initiative aligns with Item 7 of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on accelerated diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing and innovation.

He described the CAC as a pacesetter in the digital transformation of public service delivery, saying the new unit would play a key role in advancing the Commission’s technology-driven reforms.

According to him, the Innovation and Digital Services Unit is expected to develop and implement solutions that will make CAC services faster, more accessible, more efficient and more responsive to the needs of businesses and the public.

“I am honoured to commission the Innovation and Digital Services Unit of the Corporate Affairs Commission. This marks another significant step in our commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and improved service delivery,” Magaji said.

The Registrar-General charged the unit to ensure that all CAC state offices fully embrace the paperless and digitisation initiative.

He also congratulated members of the newly inaugurated unit and expressed confidence in their capacity to drive innovation across the Commission.

Magaji urged the team to remain focused on delivering practical digital solutions that would strengthen the Commission’s operations, enhance customer experience and support corporate registration and regulatory services in Nigeria.

Responding, the Head of the Innovation and Digital Services Unit, Mohammed Abdullahi, commended the Registrar-General for the initiative and pledged the commitment of the unit to effectively deliver on its mandate.

The commissioning forms part of the broader reform programme of the CAC aimed at leveraging technology to simplify business registration, improve operational efficiency and support the Federal Government’s ease of doing business agenda.

The inauguration also comes shortly after Magaji sent the first batch of State Office Coordinators to Kenya for a specialised capacity-building programme.

The international training is part of the Registrar-General’s four-point agenda to reposition the Commission through innovation, professionalism, technological advancement and improved customer service.

Magaji had said the programme was designed to expose participants to global best practices in corporate regulation, institutional management and customer-focused service delivery.

He expressed confidence that the knowledge gained from the training would strengthen the Commission’s operations and support its ongoing transformation agenda.

Since assuming office, Magaji has introduced several reforms targeted at modernising the CAC, reducing turnaround time for business registration and improving digital service delivery.

Industry stakeholders have also noted improvements in the Commission’s online services, corporate registration processes and stakeholder engagement under the current leadership.

The establishment of the Innovation and Digital Services Unit is expected to further consolidate the reforms and position the CAC as a modern, technology-driven regulatory agency capable of meeting the needs of businesses, investors and the general public.
