Chris Brown faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison after pleading guilty in a London courtroom on Friday.
According to BBC, the 37-year-old singer pleaded guilty to a charge of affray over a 2023 altercation at Tape London nightclub in which he was accused of hitting a music producer, Abraham Diaw, with a tequila bottle — what prosecutors called “a vicious and unprovoked attack.”
An affray charge is when a person uses or threatens unlawful physical violence toward another person in a way that would make a normal, reasonable bystander at the scene fear for their safety.
Brown had initially denied the allegations, but pleaded guilty to affray in exchange for prosecutors dropping the charges of assault, attempted grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon. Brown’s friend and vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, pleaded guilty to the same charge.
They are both scheduled to be sentenced in October.
