The death toll from Venezuela’s deadly twin quakes rose to 2,954, the Venezuelan information ministry reported on Saturday.
The total number of injured rose to 16,592, while the number of homeless stood at 16,309.
189 buildings completely collapsed in Venezuela during the earthquake, Interim President Delcy Rodriguez said.
She also stated that nearly all regional government officials in the state of La Guaira perished when their buildings collapsed during the twin earthquakes.
Venezuela requested international help immediately following the earthquake, and states and organizations took up the call from around the world.
The IMF and World Bank have offered aid and credit for recovery efforts after twin earthquakes devastated parts of Venezuela, Rodriguez said in a press conference on Thursday.
She added that Venezuela is creating a $200 million reconstruction fund with the IMF, and money will go to contractors to reconstruct lost homes.
