Dr. Ejike Ndiulo Joins Covenant University After Distinguished Corporate Career

The appointment marks a new phase in the career of the accomplished communications strategist, whose professional journey has spanned journalism, banking, aviation, public relations and corporate consulting for more than two decades.

Industry stakeholders described the development as a significant gain for the academic community, noting that Dr. Ndiulo’s wealth of practical experience would enrich teaching, research and mentorship at one of Nigeria’s leading private universities.

Dr. Ndiulo recently completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Strategic Marketing Management at Babcock University, adding academic distinction to a career built on strategic leadership in corporate communications and brand management.

Over the years, he has consistently advocated a more strategic role for communications professionals in organisational leadership, arguing that reputation management and stakeholder engagement should form part of executive decision-making rather than serving as tools for crisis response alone.

Before joining Covenant University, Dr. Ndiulo served as Chief Thinker at Henryjvaleens Limited, where he advised organisations on corporate reputation, strategic communications, brand positioning, market expansion and business growth initiatives.

He also held the position of Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace Limited, where he played a key role in strengthening the airline’s corporate image and stakeholder engagement. Earlier in his career, he spent about a decade at Fidelity Bank Plc, leading the bank’s corporate communications function and overseeing major marketing and communications initiatives.

A professional associate described Dr. Ndiulo as one of the industry’s strongest advocates for integrating communications into executive leadership.

“For years, Ejike has championed the idea that communication should not merely respond to corporate challenges but should help shape strategic decisions from the outset. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated that organisations achieve stronger outcomes when communications professionals are involved at the highest level of decision-making,” the associate said.

His professional journey also includes roles with the BBC World Service as a Business Development Representative and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (DIHK) as Special Projects Manager.

Before transitioning into corporate communications, Dr. Ndiulo built a successful career in journalism as a Senior Financial Correspondent with ThisDay Newspapers, earning national recognition for his reporting.

He won the Insurance Reporter of the Year award and was runner-up for Financial Reporter of the Year at the Nigeria Media Merit Awards (NMMA), achievements that further established his reputation within Nigeria’s media industry.

Dr. Ndiulo is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (formerly APCON), and the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN).

Observers believe his combination of academic credentials and extensive executive experience positions him to make meaningful contributions to teaching, research and leadership development at Covenant University.

A senior media executive described the appointment as a fitting progression for a professional whose career has consistently bridged industry practice and intellectual development.

“Covenant University is gaining an accomplished scholar and practitioner. His experience across journalism, corporate communications and strategic marketing gives him a unique perspective that will benefit students preparing for leadership roles in today’s business environment,” the executive said.
