EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede has revealed how suspected internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) stole over N7.2 million from a serving judge’s bank account in the middle of the night.
Speaking at the launch of two books by retired High Court judge Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, Olukoyede said the judge called him around 1 am after receiving several debit alerts. The money was meant for her child’s education and had been saved over six years.
Olukoyede said the EFCC acted swiftly and recovered the full amount before 6 pm the same day. He called for stronger cooperation among law enforcement agencies and urged lawmakers to update laws to support AI use in criminal investigations.
