Hisbah Arrests Three Almajiri Pupils Over Drugs

Kebbi State Hisbah Agency has arrested three underage pupils of Islamiyya schools, popularly known as Almajirai, over alleged possession of hard drugs.

The agency’s Director of Da’awa and Public Awareness, Sirajo Usman Kamba, disclosed the development while speaking with journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

According to Kamba, preliminary investigations showed that the suspects, aged between 10 and 13, are from Niger State and Maiyama Local Government Area.

He said the agency had launched an investigation to establish how the children allegedly came into possession of the substances and to determine the roles, if any, played by their parents and teachers.

Kamba expressed concern over what he described as the increasing exposure of children to illicit drugs and other social vices, stressing the need for stronger efforts to protect minors from harmful influences.

He added that the agency would take appropriate steps to safeguard the children and support their rehabilitation while continuing its investigation.

The three suspects remain in the custody of the Kebbi State Hisbah Agency pending the outcome of the investigation.
