A Nigerian woman has shared an emotional account on social media after discovering that the man she had been in a relationship with for two years was actually her biological uncle.
The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, narrated her experience in a tearful video posted on TikTok, saying the relationship came to an abrupt end after both families realised they were blood relatives.
According to her, the revelation left her devastated, ashamed and confused, as she had no idea they were related when the relationship began.
She explained that the painful discovery has made it difficult for her to move on, describing the emotional burden as overwhelming.
In the video, she appealed to parents and guardians to make a conscious effort to introduce their children to members of their extended families to help prevent similar situations in the future.

“Parents, please learn to introduce us to all our family members. I dated my uncle for two years without knowing we are blood related. How do I move on now? The shame is too much,” she said.

While many users expressed sympathy for the woman and described the situation as unfortunate, others stressed the importance of maintaining family connections and ensuring younger generations are familiar with their relatives to avoid such incidents.
