“I Just Want to Bury My Daughter” — Mary Habila’s Father Says Family Wants No Autopsy, Won’t Press Charges

The father of late Mary Habila, Tanko Habila, has said his family does not want an autopsy to be carried out on his daughter, insisting that they only want to bury her and are not suspecting anyone over her death.

Speaking publicly for the first time since Mary was reportedly found dead at a residence linked to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, Tanko Habila said his family was not interested in pursuing legal action.

“I need the corpse of my daughter so I can bury her. I don’t want an autopsy, my daughter is very young, we don’t keep body of a child for long.

“We are not placing any charges, anybody can kpai at any time, even as we standing here, somebody can fall and kpai.”

His comments come amid ongoing public interest in the circumstances surrounding Mary Habila’s death, with authorities still investigating the case.

The father’s remarks have sparked widespread reactions on social media.

I’m not saying it’s money or not, but the rate at which people die these days shows that anybody can die at any time. I pray may we not be victims of circumstances. 🙏

This is a state case, and it’s in the interest of the public. Public interest supersedes personal interest. What needs to be done must be done.

Poverty is something every man should fight. If this man was financially comfortable, this matter would probably be the number one case in court by now.
