Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has shared a positive update on the health condition of her colleague, Cynthia Nkachukwu Anijekwu, who is currently battling cancer.
The actress had earlier appealed to the public for support on behalf of Cynthia, sharing an emotional video where the cancer patient opened up about her difficult journey and the urgent need for financial assistance.
In the video, Cynthia revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and had undergone surgery and chemotherapy. However, the disease later returned, leaving her in and out of the hospital as her condition continued to deteriorate.
She explained that recent medical examinations showed that the cancer had spread to her bones, making her treatment more complicated and expensive. According to her, she now requires radiation and another surgery, but the cost has become too much for her family to handle.
“I have cancer, 2023, and I did my surgery. I took chemo. But later, it came back again, and I’ve been in and out of the hospital. The recent check-up results showed that it has reached my bone. The treatment now is higher, and I spend over 600 and something every month. It’s not easy,” Cynthia said.
She appealed to Nigerians and well-meaning individuals to support her treatment, stressing that every contribution, no matter how small, would make a difference in her fight for survival.
Following Destiny Etiko’s appeal, Nigerians responded with overwhelming support. The actress revealed that N13.1 million out of the required N20 million had been raised within hours.
Expressing her gratitude, Destiny said she was amazed by the love and generosity shown towards her colleague, adding that the funds would go a long way in helping Cynthia receive the needed medical care.
She wrote: “You all contributed N13.1 million out of the N20 million. It’s a lot, and she is overwhelmed with joy. She is super grateful and in shock. God bless you all.
“At least this will go a long way to help. Honestly, I never expected this massive love you all have shown her. All I can say is thank you, Jesus, and thanks to all my followers.”
The actress appreciated everyone who contributed towards Cynthia’s treatment and prayed for blessings upon those who offered support during the difficult period.
