Senate President Godswill Akpabio has explained the reason behind his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he realised he belonged in a progressive political family.
Speaking on his political journey, Akpabio said he discovered that his ideology aligned more closely with the APC after the party approached him.
According to him, remaining in the PDP no longer reflected his political beliefs.
“A progressive-minded person like me should belong to a progressive family, therefore, when APC came to me, I discovered that was my group and that I was in the wrong party, called PDP. So, I took my exit early and joined the progressives.”
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters describing his move as a wise political decision, while critics questioned the impact of the ruling party’s leadership on the country.
