Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has issued a PSA to her colleagues.
On her Instagram page, she said it isn’t a must for them to give her gifts on her birthday; the most important thing is to show her love. She, however, made it clear that she doesn’t like seeing birthday epistles that start with, ‘A queen was born’, as it triggers her.
She said she is satisfied with them just wishing her happy birthday.
“No be by forge to give me gifts on my birthday.
Your love is enough.
Please don’t just start with, “A queen was born”.

A day before the AMVCA in May, the Queen Lateefah star had issued a stern warning to the public, admonishing them not to compare her outfits to others’, as she isn’t quite fashionable. She said that, in any outfit she chooses to wear, they should look away and compliment her without comparing her to anyone.
Sometimes back, Wumi revealed an unknown fact about herself, stating that she walks her own path unapologetically and with unwavering focus. The mother of one made it known that she doesn’t allow the noise, hype and opinions to move her.
Toriola, in an Instagram post, spoke about the challenges of filmmaking. She noted that filmmakers make movies in an economy that constantly tests their limits, and budgets try to silence their vision, yet they refuse to allow it to define their story. She said she doesn’t have it easy, but she still makes it count.
She lashed out at upcoming actors charging exorbitant prices. She lamented over how half-baked actors with no intention of growing and working on their craft are now rampant in Nollywood.
In a shading Instagram post, Toriola threw shots at an unidentified person, questioning whether the person’s movie is among the top 5, as she stated that her goal isn’t to compete but to remain the best.
In 2024, a fan of the actress had reprimanded her for throwing shots at some of her colleagues, advising her to leave others and stop creating enemies for herself and Wumi replied, telling him to shut up.
The talented scrip interpreter, in another post, threw shade at some of her colleagues for rubbishing her efforts. She revealed that someone called her a YouTube star, and her stubbornness made her take it with so much pride. Wumi noted how some of her colleagues are yet to conquer YouTube and are still floating in the box office world.
