A 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly beating his 20-year-old wife to death following a domestic dispute over food in Obi Local Government Area of the state.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the tragic incident occurred in Angwan Yahaya, Agyaragu, on Sunday after an argument between the couple reportedly escalated into violence.
The state Police Command said the matter was reported at the Agyaragu Police Division at about 12:30 p.m., alleging that the suspect had assaulted his wife, inflicting injuries that led to her death.
Police said Amodu was immediately arrested and allegedly confessed during interrogation.
According to the police, the suspect claimed he attacked his wife in a fit of anger after she allegedly refused to prepare food for him. The disagreement reportedly degenerated into a physical assault that proved fatal.
The deceased, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, is survived by two children—a boy and a girl—from the couple’s six-year marriage.
The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Shetima Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for a comprehensive investigation.
He assured residents that justice would be served, adding that the suspect would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.
