China has unveiled a portable water purification device capable of transforming floodwater, river water and other untreated water sources into clean drinking water, drawing attention from people impressed by its potential use during disasters and in areas with limited access to safe water.
In a demonstration video that has gone viral on social media, the compact device was shown filtering murky water into visibly clear water within moments.
While the technology has been praised as a possible game-changer for emergency response and outdoor use, some social media users questioned whether the filtered water is completely safe for consumption and called for independent testing to verify its effectiveness.
The innovation comes as countries around the world continue to seek practical solutions to water scarcity and emergency situations caused by flooding and natural disasters
