Kano Pillars have appointed Daniel Ogunmodede as the club’s new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The former Remo Stars coach and Super Eagles assistant coach signed a two-year contract with the Sai Masu Gida as the club begins preparations for the new campaign.
His appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by Kano Pillars’ Media Director, Isma’eel Tangalashi.
According to the statement, Ogunmodede, popularly known as ‘Ijaball’, will oversee the club’s technical affairs as part of preparations for the upcoming NPFL season.
The club said the appointment forms part of an ongoing restructuring aimed at strengthening the technical bench and improving performances in both domestic and continental competitions.
It added that Ogunmodede’s arrival represents a major step in the club’s bid to return to title contention in the NPFL and restore its competitive edge.
The 44-year-old replaces Muhammad Babaganaru, who guided the club last season. Ogunmodede takes over a Kano Pillars side that narrowly avoided relegation after finishing 15th in the 2025/2026 NPFL season with 48 points from 38 matches.
The appointment also means the former Remo Stars coach will now work with former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, who remains one of the club’s most experienced players, as Pillars seek an improved campaign in the new season.
