Osun 2026: Islamic society rallies support for APC candidate

The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADS) in Osun State on Sunday unanimously declared support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, and assured him of victory in the August 15, 2026 election.

The leadership and members of the ADS declared their support at a special meeting and prayer held in his honour in Osogbo.

The Islamic society attributed the decision to the verifiable islamic status, outstanding virtues, and track-records of Oyebamiji as a true Muslim and bonafide member of the Ansar-Ud-Deen.

Speaking on behalf of the leadership of the Islamic group, its Secretary, Alhaji Akande Hafiz, described Oyebamiji as a bonafide member of the society in whom all the members of the society were in support of his aspiration to govern the state.

Hafiz said the meeting was to interface with Oyebanji and assure him of their total support.

He said: “We are gathered here today to interface with one of our very own, the flag-bearer of the APC in the August 15 governorship election.

“For the information of those who may not know, Bola Oyebamiji was born, bred, and nurtured within the family of the Ansar-Ud-Deen, Ikire branch .

“And he is here today as a bonafide member who has every right to partake in the activities of the society and to seek the blessings of his household, and what binds us together is our shared faith in Islam.

“As members of the same household, we are immensely happy and proud to have one of our own vying for this exalted position.

“This is indeed a historic milestone and another plus for us in the history of our society in the state.

“There’s no doubting the fact that Oyebamiji is known to us as a complete gentleman, a peace-loving man, and a leader of profound humility, discipline, and selfless service.

“He is a philanthropist par excellence, a listening leader, a devoted family man, and above all, a practising Muslim who operates with the deep fear of Allah in whom we are pleased with.”

Hafiz, however, said that as a corporate body, the society remains non-partisan but would never rebuke, sideline, or abandon “our own who show an active interest in governance.

“The society fully recognises the need to support our members who aspire to positions of authority.

“We firmly believe that authority is a sacred trust from Allah, and no one attains it except by His divine permission.

“As one united family, we will support him with our sincere prayers for divine wisdom, protection, and success and we pray the Almighty Allah grants him the wisdom to lead, the strength to serve, and absolute sincerity in all that he does.”

Also speaking, the National President, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Musedik Adeniji, acknowledged Oyebamiji’s immense contributions to the growth and upliftment of the society, adding that the society is firmly behind his aspiration.

In his remarks, Oyebamiji appealed to the electorate to come out in large numbers and vote for him, stating: “My ambition is clear.

“I am prepared to take the bull by the horns in transforming our common heritage.”

He urged all eligible voters to vote for him, urging them not sell their Permanent Voter’s Cards for whatever worth or reason.

He also tasked religious leaders with constant prayers for a peaceful electoral process in the forthcoming election in the state.

He extolled the leadership and members of the ADS for their continued prayers and bold step taken to support him, promising to run an all inclusive, participatory, and masses-oriented government when elected governor.

Oyebamiji, who was accompanied by his wife, Alhaja Sekinah, urged religious leaders to put the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the hands of God for peaceful conduct through fervent prayers and supplications unto Allah.

He recalled Allah’s blessings upon him and his family since he was born into the Ansar-Ud-Deen family in Ikire, disclosing that the moral part of his faith was learned in the society.

He said: “We will run an all inclusive, participatory, and masses-oriented government.

“We will prioritise all sectors of the economy.

“I can assure everyone here that we will most sincerely prioritise the security and welfare of the people, particularly the welfare and general well-being of all, especially the civil servants.

“We will run a transparent and accountable government.

“Our education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, commerce and industry, power and energy as well as the justice system will experience drastic change when I am elected the governor.

“I will continue to seek your collective and individual support.
