The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of five suspects and the seizure of four firearms following a series of intelligence-driven operations carried out across multiple divisions in the state.
The recovered weapons included two locally made pistols and two dane guns, along with a single live cartridge and a stolen mobile phone worth ₦180,000.
In a press release shared on social media on Friday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseye, stated that the suspects were arrested and the weapons recovered across different divisions of the state.
The first arrest stemmed from a theft report filed on May 22, 2026, which led operatives of the Afon Division to a father-and-son pair Fatai Adegbola and his 23-year-old son, Waliu.
The younger Adegbola was accused of stealing a Tecno Android phone from a residential apartment on May 8.
After tracking and recovering the stolen device, officers obtained a search warrant for the family’s home, where they uncovered a locally made pistol and a dane gun that had allegedly been hidden on the premises.

The second operation involved a routine patrol by the Ilisan Remo Division on May 27, 2026, during which officers discovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge abandoned at the Ilisan Remo Roundabout.
The weapon was secured and deposited in the division’s armoury while investigations into its origin and ownership continue.
In the third operation, operatives of the Ode Remo Division arrested 25-year-old Inioluwa Adesanya in connection with the theft of a dane gun.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had gained entry into the victim’s home under the cover of working as a carpenter’s assistant during a renovation.
He reportedly confessed to the theft and disclosed membership in the Aye confraternity, adding that the weapon had been modified to make it easier to conceal.
All cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the officers involved for their professionalism and effective use of intelligence, while reaffirming the command’s resolve to combat cultism, armed robbery, and illegal weapons possession across the state.
Residents are encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via the command’s emergency contact lines: 0800 000 9111, 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.
