President Tinubu Appoints Dr. Dax George-Kelly as BCDA Executive Secretary

Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Dax George-Kelly as the Executive Secretary of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), reinforcing his administration’s commitment to improving development and security in Nigeria’s border communities.

Dr. George-Kelly, a seasoned administrator and construction management expert, previously served as the Director-General of the BCDA before his elevation to the position of Executive Secretary. His appointment is expected to strengthen the agency’s mandate of delivering sustainable development projects to communities located along Nigeria’s international borders.

Before joining the BCDA, Dr. George-Kelly served as Commissioner for Works in Rivers State, where he oversaw several infrastructure projects. He holds academic qualifications in Quantity Surveying and Construction Management, including a doctorate in Construction Management, and is widely recognized for his experience in public administration and project delivery.

The Border Communities Development Agency is a federal government agency tasked with improving the living conditions of people residing in border communities by providing essential infrastructure such as roads, schools, healthcare facilities, water supply, and other social amenities. The agency also plays a strategic role in supporting national security by fostering development and economic opportunities in border regions.

During his tenure at the agency, Dr. George-Kelly has advocated stronger collaboration with relevant government institutions to enhance security, economic growth, and social development in border communities in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

His appointment has been welcomed by stakeholders, who believe his experience in infrastructure development and public service will further strengthen the agency’s capacity to address the unique challenges facing Nigeria’s border communities.
