A Zimbabwean man has been left devastated after DNA test results reportedly revealed that the pastor who officiated his wedding is the biological father of the two children he had been raising as his own.
According to reports, the incident involves Farai Hatirarami and his former wife, Eunice Mururi. The revelation reportedly came after Hatirarami conducted DNA tests on the children, which allegedly confirmed that he was not their biological father.
The results further indicated that the children’s biological father was Pastor Vhetu, the same clergyman who had officiated the couple’s wedding ceremony years earlier.
The discovery is said to have led to the breakdown of the marriage and sparked legal proceedings over child maintenance.
Reports indicate that Mururi later took Pastor Vhetu to court, seeking US$700 per month for the upkeep of the couple’s two children, aged eight and four.

During the court proceedings, the pastor reportedly acknowledged that he was the biological father of the children. However, he argued that he could not afford the amount being sought, explaining that his income was largely derived from church tithes, offerings and farming activities.
After considering the case, the court reportedly ordered Pastor Vhetu to pay US$175 per month in child maintenance. He was also said to have agreed to contribute to the children’s educational expenses.
The case has attracted widespread attention on social media, with many expressing shock over the circumstances surrounding the paternity revelation. Others have cited the incident as a reminder of the role DNA testing can play in resolving paternity disputes.
