Sowore Alleges Fresh Charges Filed Against Man Accused of AI Voice Impersonation of Tinubu

Human rights activist and AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has disclosed that Ifechukwu Dennis, the young man accused of creating an AI-generated voice recording alleged to have impersonated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been released from custody.

In a post shared earlier on his verified X account, Sowore said Dennis had previously been held in police detention before being remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

According to Sowore, the defendant regained his freedom after human rights lawyer Prince Wayne Esq. Aluta Icon Chikeze secured his release in court. He added that members of his team were present during the court proceedings and confirmed that Dennis had reunited with his family.

Sowore further alleged that the Nigeria Police Force has filed fresh charges against Dennis at the Federal High Court, describing the move as a continuation of the legal action against him.

The activist said his legal team intends to contest the new charges and would continue to support Dennis throughout the proceedings.

Sowore also argued that young Nigerians should be provided with opportunities to develop their talents in technology and innovation rather than face what he described as prolonged prosecution.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had not publicly responded to Sowore’s claims regarding the alleged fresh charges.
