A lady has sparked conversations online after claiming that suspected thieves allegedly demanded money to return an iPhone 14 Pro Max stolen during a midnight break-in at her aunt’s home.
According to her account, the incident occurred at about 2 a.m. when the suspects reportedly gained access by cutting through a window net with a razor blade.
During the alleged burglary, they made away with her cousin’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, which she said had been purchased only a few weeks earlier.
The unusual twist reportedly came after the family tried calling the missing phone. Instead of ignoring the call, the person who answered allegedly demanded ₦150,000 before agreeing to return the device.
Suspected thieves allegedly reduced ransom demand
The woman said, “This country is not safe again. Thieves broke into my aunt’s house around 2 a.m. yesterday. They used a razor blade to cut through the window net and stole her son’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, which he had only bought a few weeks ago. When she called the phone, someone answered and demanded ₦150,000 before The phone can be returned. She refused, so they reduced the amount to ₦50,000. She pretended she was willing to pay and asked them to send their account number, but they said they would rather call it out over the phone. She recorded the conversation, including their voices and the account details they provided. The account they shared appears to belong to a POS agent.”
