Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 28-year-old pregnant woman, identified as Falmata Adamu, for allegedly conveying items suspected to be meant for Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in Borno State.
The suspect was reportedly apprehended on July 13 during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Mandaragirau–Biu Road in southern Borno.
Security sources said the woman came under suspicion during a checkpoint inspection, prompting troops to conduct a thorough search.
During the search, operatives allegedly recovered 17 torchlights and 19 Tiger batteries concealed inside her clothing.
Investigators suspect the items were being transported to insurgents operating in one of the terrorist enclaves in the North-East.
A security source said the woman was immediately taken into custody for further interrogation.
“The suspect was intercepted after troops discovered the items hidden in her civilian clothing during a search. Preliminary findings suggest the materials were intended for delivery to a terrorist enclave,” the source disclosed.
Military authorities are now investigating the intended recipients of the supplies and whether the suspect is part of a wider logistics network supporting Boko Haram and ISWAP operations across the region.
The arrest is part of Operation Hadin Kai’s ongoing efforts to disrupt supply chains and dismantle logistics networks sustaining insurgent groups in the North-East.
Security sources said troops had intensified surveillance along major routes linking communities in Borno as part of renewed counter-insurgency operations aimed at cutting off the movement of personnel and supplies to terrorist camps.
Although the military has recorded significant operational successes against insurgents in recent months, security officials maintained that Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters still pose security threats in parts of the North-East, necessitating sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and coordinated military operations.
There was no official statement from the Nigerian military on the arrest as of the time of filing this report. The allegations against the suspect also remain under investigation, and no formal charges have been announced.
