Norway reached the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history after stunning five-time champions Brazil 2-1 in the Round of 16 of the 2026 tournament.
The victory marks Norway’s deepest-ever run at the World Cup and continues their impressive campaign after eliminating one of the pre-tournament favourites.
Morocco also continued their remarkable rise on the world stage with a convincing 3-0 victory over Canada to book a place in the last eight.
The Atlas Lions have now reached the World Cup quarter-finals for the second consecutive tournament, becoming the first African nation to achieve the feat after their historic run to the semi-finals at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Switzerland also secured a place in the quarter-finals after edging Colombia 4-3 on penalties following a goalless draw.
The Swiss are returning to the last eight for the first time since hosting the 1954 FIFA World Cup.
The quarter-final line-up reflects the changing landscape of world football, with Norway producing the tournament’s biggest upset so far and Morocco reinforcing their status among the game’s leading nations.
