A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Obong Nsima Ekere, has described the party’s just-concluded 2026 national convention as a monumental show of strength and a major boost for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Speaking to journalists during the event at Eagle Square, Abuja, weekend, Ekere noted that the rancour-free nature of the exercise, the massive turnout of delegates and stakeholders have sent an unequivocal message to the opposition about the ruling party’s cohesion.

‎”It is glaring that Mr. President has won enormous trust and solidarity. Looking at 2027, he will win convincingly. What we witnessed here today is a very strong statement. It is a bold, undeniable statement of support for the leadership of President Tinubu and a preview of the momentum that will carry us through to the 2027 general elections,” he said.

‎The former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom state and 2019 governorship candidate of the APC, lauded what he termed the “transformational reforms” of the Tinubu administration, under the Renewed Hope agenda. He argued that the economic policies and the administration’s focus on infrastructure have begun to yield tangible results.

He specifically praised the president’s inclusive leadership style, which he credited for the party’s expanding control across various states.

‎”President Tinubu has demonstrated a unique ability to unite stakeholders. The growing dominance of our party across the country is a direct reflection of the people’s acceptance of his policies and the inclusive nature of his leadership. We are seeing a reinvigorated political base, and the energy here today is proof of that,” the former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) asserted.
