The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday convened a private meeting with prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders from Rivers State.
According to reports from TheLeader, the discussion took place at Wike’s residence in Abuja and was conducted behind closed doors, leaving many to speculate on the topics and outcomes of the gathering.
The gathering is seen as part of early consultations ahead of the 2026 APC National Convention.
Though details remain sketchy, sources within the party say the talks are focused on strengthening internal structures and building alliances.
Among those present was the APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, who was recently re-elected into the position.
Also in attendance were serving Senators, members of the House of Representatives, and several influential party stakeholders from Rivers State.
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, attended the meeting alongside other members of the State Assembly.
Their presence points to a strong legislative backing within the political bloc engaging with the FCT Minister.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara, however, was not at the meeting. His absence has raised fresh questions about the current political dynamics in the state.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, has continued to play a central role in the state’s politics despite serving in the current administration at the federal level.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released on the outcome of the meeting. More details are expected to emerge in the coming hours as party insiders provide further insight into the discussions.
