The Lagos State Police Command has officially flagged off activities marking the 2026 National Police Day with a large-scale sanitation exercise across the state and a free medical outreach in Ikeja.

The initiative, which commenced on Monday, was led by the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, as part of efforts to deepen community engagement and reinforce public trust in policing.

The opening day featured a coordinated environmental sanitation exercise across fourteen Area Commands, aimed at promoting cleaner and healthier communities.

Simultaneously, a comprehensive medical outreach was held at Computer Village, one of Lagos’ busiest commercial hubs.

Residents, traders, and passers-by at the venue benefitted from a wide range of free healthcare services, including medical check-ups, health education, counselling, blood pressure and blood sugar testing, as well as screening for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and retroviral infections. Eye examinations and free distribution of essential medications were also provided.

The initiative highlights the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to not only maintaining law and order but also contributing to public health and environmental sustainability.

Many beneficiaries commended the Command for bringing accessible healthcare services closer to the people, describing the outreach as timely and impactful amid rising healthcare costs.

Reaffirming its dedication to service, partnership, and people-centred policing, the Command noted that more activities are scheduled in the coming days as part of the National Police Day celebrations.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, stated that the Command remains focused on strengthening its relationship with residents while promoting initiatives that improve community well-being
