Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has officially named Senator Aliyu Wadada as his preferred candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the 2027 election.
Governor Sule made the announcement during a closed-door meeting with political appointees at the Nasarawa State Government House in Lafia on Thursday.
Senator Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, recently defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the APC to pursue the governorship ambition.
His move to the ruling party has been widely viewed as a strategic step to strengthen his chances ahead of the polls.
The announcement is expected to reshape the political landscape in Nasarawa State as major stakeholders within the APC begin to align behind the governor’s choice. Political observers believe Wadada’s senatorial experience and the governor’s endorsement could consolidate APC’s position in the 2027 race.
