Kwara state All Progressives Congress (APC) media watch has decried what it called a dangerous attempt by some desperate politicians to drag Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s name into disrepute in their bid to destabilise the party in order to achieve selfish interests.
The group, in a statement signed by its coordinator, Hon. Aliu Mashood Ajao, pointed to a recent story by a Kwara‑based outlet, which claimed the governor allegedly mentioned a preferred successor to the president, describing it as a “familiar tactics” being employed by the desperators to achieve their selfish interests.
The statement said, “This development has introduced a layer of tension within the ruling party in the state, where multiple hopefuls continue to campaign. Some aspirants, who are already aware, say the lack of transparency is fueling frustration and might eventually affect the party’s chances,” it stated.
‘Kwara APC media watch warned the sponsors of such innuendos to desist from acts that could stoke tension and destabilize the party as it approaches primaries.
“The governor, as party leader, has assured a level playing field for every aspirant seeking the APC gubernatorial ticket in Kwara state,” the statement added .
