The North-west zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has pledged to retain its position as the party’s highest vote-producing region ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a commitment to deliver what it described as “leading votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates.”

This was part of the resolutions reached at the maiden meeting of the zonal executive held Thursday at the APC North-west Zonal Secretariat, No. 2B Raba Road, Kaduna.

The meeting was chaired by the party’s National Vice Chairman (North-west), Garba Datti Muhammad, and followed the zonal congress held in Kaduna on March 25, 2026.

In a statement issued after the meeting by the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Musa Mailafiya Mada, the party said the gathering focused on measures to sustain the region’s long-standing record of producing the highest number of votes for presidential candidates since 1999.

According to the statement, the zone resolved to collaborate with key stakeholders across the seven North-west states to ensure total victory for APC candidates in the 2027 polls.

“The meeting agreed to collaborate with all critical stakeholders of the party in the zone to ensure total victory for all the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially President Tinubu, the seven state governors from the zone, as well as National and state Assembly members,” the statement read in part.

The zonal leadership also adopted what it described as a “campaign of facts” as its advocacy model for promoting the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.

The statement said the campaign would focus on highlighting the dividends of democracy delivered to the North-west in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and development programmes.

Particular emphasis was placed on the activities of the North West Development Commission, which the party described as “one of the major achievements” of the Tinubu administration in the region.

The party also vowed to preserve unity within its fold and address any emerging cracks ahead of the election cycle.

“The zone insists on maintaining the existing peaceful atmosphere that kept the party united and vowed to remain vigilant in mending any foreseeable crack that may emerge in the build-up to the 2027 general elections,” the statement added.

It stated further that the zonal secretariat was prepared to counter misinformation from opposition parties aimed at “de-marketing” the APC.

Those in attendance included the newly elected Zonal Secretary, Isah Sadiq Achida; Zonal Legal Adviser, Bashir Usaini Dutse; Zonal Organising Secretary, Salisu Uba Tsafe; Zonal Youth Leader, Abdulhamid Umar Ahmed; Zonal Women Leader, Hadiza Alhaji; and Zonal Leader of Persons Living with Disabilities, Dahiru Gambo Rafin Dadi.
