FRSC returns N1.120m recovered from crash victim

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reinforced its commitment to integrity, transparency and professionalism with the successful return of ₦1,120,000 recovered from a fatal crash scene.
 The FRSC also recovered a suspected stolen vehicle  during a routine verification process in Gombe state.

In the first incident, FRSC operatives recovered and handed over the sum of ₦1,120,000 to the family of a deceased crash victim following a tragic road accident that occurred on 11 April 2026 at Idu Village along the Gegu Abaji route. 
According to the FRSC, the crash involved a Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. GWP418CV) and a Volkswagen Golf (Reg. No. RBC220DG) said in a statement signed in Abuja on Tuesday by Osondu Ohaeri.

He said the driver of the Volkswagen Golf, Mallam Aliyu Mohammed Bala, sustained critical injuries and later died in hospital.
“During the rescue operation conducted by the FRSC Zebra Team, the money and other personal belongings were carefully retrieved and documented in accordance with standard procedures. 
“At a formal handover ceremony held on 20 April 2026, the deceased’s elder brother, Mr. Bala Yakubu, received the recovered sum on behalf of the family, in the presence of witnesses.”The handover was led by the Acting Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander RC Ojonugwa E. Ejah, alongside other senior officers,” he said.
Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed on Tuesday in Abuja described the gesture as a testament to the Corps’ unwavering commitment to accountability and ethical conduct, while also extending condolences to the bereaved family.
