The National Working Committee, NWC, of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, has announce the election of Bala Yunusa Mohammed as its new National Chairman.
A statement signed by Ladipo Johnson, the party’s
National Publicity Secretary, described Bala as an astute administrator, who served as the party’s National Organizing Secretary before now.
The party said it believes its new Chairman brings to the office a wealth of experience, tactical brilliance, and an unwavering commitment to the party’s grassroots ideology.
The NNPP acknowledged the departure of Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, its former Chairman who has resigned his appointment to join the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
The statement added, “On behalf of our national leadership, the National Executive Committee, and our teeming members across the 36 states and the FCT, we thank Dr. Ajuji Ahmed for his dedicated service.
“We recognize the contributions he made during his tenure and sincerely wish him the very best in his future political endeavors.”
It said that these transition is coming at a critical juncture in national history.
It added, “Today, the Nigerian citizen is caught in the throes of unprecedented economic hardship, spiraling inflation, and a pervasive sense of insecurity that threatens the very fabric of our society.
“Furthermore, we are witnessing a coordinated assault on the foundations of our democracy.
“As we approach the 2027 general elections, it has become evident that the opposition space is being targeted by, sponsored Internal Crises, calculated attempts to destabilize parties from within, purious Legal Challenges, the use of ‘judicial warfare’ to distract and drain the resources of credible alternatives to the status quo.”
The NNPP also cried out over what it called democratic erosion, where, according to the party, the voice of the people is increasingly being muffled by political subterfuge.
In electing Bala as its new National Chairman, the NNPP said it has chosen a leader who understands these “perilous times.”
It added, “Our democracy is under attack, but the NNPP remains a sanctuary for the hopes of the common man. Under the leadership of Honourable Bala, we are not just preparing for an election; we are preparing to salvage a nation.
“We have absolute confidence that our new Chairman will steer this great party through these turbulent waters with integrity and courage. His emergence signals a unified front against the forces of regression and a renewed vigor to offer Nigerians the governance they truly deserve.
“We call on all party faithful and well-meaning Nigerians to rally behind the new leadership as we fortify our ranks.
“The journey to 2027 is a marathon, and the NNPP is now better positioned than ever to cross the finish line as the party of the people.”
