The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has felicitated with Christians in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Easter, calling for renewed commitment to peace, security and national development.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the forum said the celebration, which marks the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, comes at a time when Nigerians are grappling with worsening socio-economic and security challenges.
ACF expressed concern over what it described as the deteriorating situation in Northern Nigeria, where many communities continue to face insecurity, deaths, displacement and destruction of livelihoods due to the activities of armed groups and criminal elements.
The forum, however, commended Nigerians for their resilience and unwavering hope for a better future despite the prevailing difficulties.
It noted that the country’s challenges are not insurmountable, expressing optimism that a “peaceful, prosperous and socially harmonious Nigeria remains achievable.”
The group called on Christians and other citizens to remain “law-abiding, peaceful and prayerful,” stressing the need for unity and collective responsibility in addressing the nation’s problems.
ACF also urged security agencies to be reinvigorated to effectively tackle insecurity across the country, particularly in the northern region.
It further called for decisive and sustained action against terrorists and criminal elements, while also advocating efforts to address underlying factors enabling insecurity.
The forum prayed for peace, justice, equity and economic prosperity to return to Nigeria.
