Equities market remains bullish, gains N861bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Wednesday remained on positive trajectory, gaining N861 billion.
Gains recorded in the shares of Zenith Bank, Transco Hotel, FirstHoldco and others lifted trading activities for the day.

The trading showed that strong gains in major stocks like Stanbic, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, Cap Plc, Nascon and 26 others  buoyed impacted positively on the performance of the market

This resulted in market capitalisation of listed equities increasing by 0.61 per cent to close at N141.384 trillion from N140.523 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 1336.39 basis points to 219586.20 points from 218249.81 recorded on Tuesday.

The market breath was positive with 31 advancers against 27 decliners, bringing year to date return to 41.11 per cent.

Volume of trades declined by 121.228 million , representing 15.06 per cent as investors traded 683.684 million against 804.912 million recorded the previous day. Value of transactions went down by 15.65 per cent to settle at N36.167 billion in 51694 deals.

The NGX trading for the showed that five companies closed with 10 per cent gain. Cap Plc, Vitafoam Nigeria and Transco Hotel increased by 10 per cent each to close at N110.00, N143.00 and N223.00 per share respectively. UACN and TransExpress also added 10 per cent to close respectively at N121.00 and N7.92 per unit.

On the contrary, Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals topped losers chart, dropping by 10 per cent to close at N9.00 per unit, Abbey Building Society trailed with a loss of 9.85 per cent to close at N5.95 per share, Living Trust Insurance down by 8.94 per cent to close at N3.36 per share, ABC Transport dipped by 8.65 per cent to close at N5.70 per unit, HMcall dropped by 6.23 per cent to close at N3.61 per unit.

The result further indicated that FirstHoldco led market activities with 76.643 million shares valued at N5.782 billion, United Bank for Africa followed with account of 55.268 million shares worth N2.832 billion, Access Holdings traded 52.429 million shares cost N1.620 billion, GTCO Plc traded 37.389 million shares valued at N4.875 billion while JapaulGold exchanged 30.166 million shares cost N94.354 million.
