Iran’s Speaker of Parliament MB Ghalibaf in a post on X said the Strait is closed.
He said US President Donald Trump “made seven claims in one hour, all seven of which were false”.
He said US did not win the war “with these lies” and it will certainly not get anywhere in negotiations either. “With the continuation of the blockade, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open,” he said.
Ghalibaf said that the passage via the Strait of Hormuz would be based on the “designated route” and with “Iranian authorization”. “Whether Whether the Strait is open or closed and the regulations governing it will be determined by the field, not by social media,” Ghalibaf added.
He said media warfare and engineering public opinion are an important part of war and “the Iranian nation is not affected by these tricks”.
On another note, the US and Iran are set to hold another round of peace talks on Monday in Islamabad, Pakistan, as per multiple media reports.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism over a permanent ceasefire with Iran soon. However, while speaking at the Turning Point USA event in Arizona on Friday (local time), Trump said an agreement with Iran would not be in full effect till it is finalized entirely.
He also said US will obtain Iran’s uranium stockpile one way or another and warned that it could come in a
“more unfriendly form” if negotiations are not fruitful, CNN reported.
Trump on Friday also told reporters aboard Air Force One that he had some “pretty good news” on Iran but declined to elaborate on the same.
“We had some pretty good news 20 minutes ago, but it seems to be going very well in the Middle East with Iran,” he said, Reuters reported.
When asked what the good news was, Trump said, “You’ll hear about. I just think it’s something that should happen. It’s something that only makes sense to happen. And I think it will. We’ll see what happens, but I think it will.”
