The Kaduna State Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, Godiya Lolo, has resigned from her position and membership in the party.

Lolo announced her resignation in a letter dated April 13, addressed to the party’s chairman in Dura/Bitaro Ward, Jaba Local Government Area.

She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the party in a key leadership capacity.

“I have formally resigned my membership and position within the PDP. I am thankful for the experience and the opportunity to serve as State Woman Leader. It’s been an honour,” she stated.

Although she did not officially declare her next political move, sources within the state’s political circle said her name has surfaced among members of a Kaduna South campaign team associated with the ruling party, fuelling speculation of a possible defection.

Her inclusion in the campaign structure, if confirmed, would signal a significant political shift, given her influence in mobilising women and grassroots supporters across Kaduna State.

Political analysts say the development underscores ongoing realignments within the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, with key figures repositioning for strategic advantage.

Efforts to obtain confirmation from officials of the ruling party were unsuccessful as of press time. However, insiders hinted that more high-profile defections may follow in the coming weeks.

Lolo’s exit is seen as a setback for the PDP in Kaduna, particularly within its women’s wing, where she played a central role in strengthening participation and coordination.

The party is yet to issue an official statement on her resignation, but sources said consultations are ongoing to fill the leadership vacuum and prevent further cracks within its ranks.
