Kano state revenue agency generated N102 billion in 2025 – Official

Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) generated N102 billion in 2025, representing 120 percent of it’s annual target following improved compliance and steady progress in the system.

This was announced by the Chairman of KIRS Dr. Zaid Abubakar while delivering a speech at the annual dinner and award night organised by the state revenue agency at the weekend in Kano.

“In 2024, Kano state recorded and Internally Generated Revenue of N74 billion. In 2025, that figure rose to an impressive and unprecedented N102 billion. Service generated over N102, representing 120 percent of the annual target.

“This achievement reflects improved compliance, stronger coordination and steady progress in our systems,” he state.

He added that the KIRS has advanced it’s digital transformation, with improved platforms that enhance taxpayer engagement.

In her address, the Executive Director Human Resource Services of KIRS, Hajiya Fatima Ahmad Nuhu, congratulated the awardees and expressed trust that the award will inspire them in the years ahead to pursue the ambition of N200 billion in IGR.

“To our staff, this occasion serves as a reminder that excellence is recognized, and that performance is the foundation of our institutional progress.

“We remain committed to strengthening this framework to ensure it continues to reflect integrity, inclusiveness and institutional excellence,” she declared.

Individuals from all departments of the KIRS as well as both the senior and junior categories were rewarded for their commitment and dedication to work during the award night.
