Kebbi to construct NOUN permanent site in Birnin Kebbi

The Kebbi state government Sunday said it will undertake the construction of the permanent site, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Kebbi Centre, Birnin Kebbi.

This is in recognition of assuming an unparalleled citadel of learning for home students acquiring knowledge without much stress.

Governor Nasir Idris gave the glad tidings in a message to the 15th convocation of NOUN performed simultaneously nationwide at the weekend.

Represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga, the governor described the occasion as a significant milestone of academic journey of the Kebbi Centre.

“NOUN is now a citadel of knowledge, providing high quality education to students.

“I urge Kebbi people to utilise the opportunity provided by the University to further their education.

“Educational growth and development remain top most priority of my administration, I am committed to improving the education sector to high level,” Comrade Idris assured.

The commissioner also announced the donation of N1 million by the Kebbi deputy dovernor, Sen. Umar Abubakar Tafida ,to the university.

In his address, the Director, NOUN Kebbi Centre, Professor Ibrahim Musa, informed the gathering that the 15th convocation of the university was being held simultaneously in Abuja and in all the 36 states of the federation, with a total number of 24,575 students who graduated.
