N-Power beneficiaries have flooded the official page of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, dropping hundreds of comments and demanding payment of their unpaid stipends as frustration continues to rise over the long backlog.
The Ministry’s Facebook page was filled with repeated messages like “Pay N-Power beneficiaries,” “Clear our backlog,” and “We just want to see N-Power alert,” showing the level of anger among beneficiaries who say they have waited for months, and in some cases years, without being paid.
Many of them said paying the outstanding stipends should be the government’s number one priority, warning that the delay is causing serious hardship. Others also questioned the government’s transparency, insisting that old debts should be cleared before starting new programmes.
The situation has also taken a political turn, as some beneficiaries linked the issue to future elections, saying failure to pay could affect their support. Protest images were also shared, with messages like “Pay Us Our Money,” “No Pay, No Vote,” and “Justice for N-Power,” showing that the complaints are now becoming more organised online.
This reaction is coming despite earlier promises by the Federal Government that payments will be made after verification and restructuring of the programme. However, no clear date has been given, which is increasing distrust among beneficiaries.
N-Power, one of Nigeria’s biggest social programmes, is now facing serious criticism mainly because of the unpaid stipends. The reactions on the Ministry’s page show that beneficiaries are no longer willing to stay quiet.
Nigeria Startup News reports that with no confirmed payment date yet, the online protest shows a strong demand for accountability and urgent payment of all outstanding stipends.
