NANS screening panel begins verification of aspirants for 2026 convention

The National Association of Nigerian Students’ Independent Convention Planning Committee has commenced the screening of aspirants ahead of its 2026 national convention.

The development followed an exclusive meeting of the screening and verification subcommittee held in Abuja on Monday.

According to a statement signed by the Chairman of the subcommittee, Comrade Ambassador Okereafor Bestman, the meeting formally kick-started the screening process.

The meeting, which held at Tofana Suites, Mabushi, brought together key members of the subcommittee drawn from across the country.

Welcoming participants, Okereafor charged members to remain committed and diligent in discharging their responsibilities, stressing the importance of credibility in the process.

He said, “Members must be transparent, fair, courageous and unbiased, while strictly adhering to the constitution of NANS and established guidelines to ensure a smooth exercise.”

In the same vein, the Chairman of the NANS 2026 ICPC, Comrade Dele Kenko, expressed confidence in the committee, urging members to uphold justice and fairness in screening all aspirants.

After deliberations, the committee resolved that the screening exercise would commence daily at 10am on a first-come, first-served basis.

It also directed all aspirants to appear before the committee with original copies of their credentials, intention forms, and 10 photocopies of each document.

Members present at the meeting included representatives from Bayelsa, Kogi, Katsina, Gombe, Kaduna, Abia, Enugu, Rivers and Taraba states, among others.
