The Nigerian equities market which started 7 hours trading session on Monday  opened bearish, declining by N1.365 trillion as investors embarked on profit taking activities on some mid cap and large stocks

This resulting in

Market capitalization of listed equities declining  by 0.94 per cent to N143.967 trillion from N145.334 trillion reported on Friday.

The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 2120.20 basis points to 223602.29 point from 225722.43 points it closed the previous day.

The negative performance recorded during the day was driven by losses in the shares of Fidelity Bank, FirstHoldco,.UBA, Access Bank, Zenith Bank, GTCO Plc, MTN Nigeria among others.

The market breath was negatively be with 40 decliners against 35 gainers, bringing year to date return to 43.69 per cent .

An analysis of the investment showed that Abbey Building Society led gainers table with 9.26 per cent to close at N5.90 per unit, Zichis followed with a gain of 8.91 per cent to close at N16.99 per unit, Wema Bank added 8.80 per cent to close at N34.00 per share, NPF Micro Finance Bank grew by 8.18 per cent to close at N5.68 per unit.while Wapic Insurance up by 7.26 per cent to close at N2.66  per share.

On the contrary, TransExpress, UBA and FirstHoldco topped losers chart with 10 per cent to close at N7.11, N49.50 and N67.50 per shares respectively.Access Holdings Company followed with 9.90 per cent to close at N28.20 per share Fidelity Bank down by 9.87 per cent to close at N20.10 per unit.

Volume of trades went down by 23.386 million, representing 3.57 per cent as investors traded 605.230 million shares against 627.616 million reported the preceding day. Valued of transactions dipped by 19.37 per cent to settle at N35.888 billion in 77290 deals.

Trading in the shares of  Zenith Bank led market activities with 63.318 million shares valued at N8.025 billion, Wema Bank followed with account of 44.127 millions shares worth N1.484 billion, Access Holdings Company traded 38.144 million shares cost N1.075 billion, Tantalizer exchanged 29.942 million shares worth N118.897 million while VFD group exchanged 26.739 million shares worth N277.597 million.
