No fewer than 500 corps members deployed to Zamfara state were formally inducted into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme on Friday for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II service year.

The oath of allegiance was administered by the Chief Magistrate, Zamfara state, Murtala Abdullahi, at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Gusau.

Declaring the orientation course open, Governor Dauda Lawal,  represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Nasiru Galadima Kaura, assured the corps members that their welfare and security throughout their service year will be guaranteed.

He said the NYSC scheme is a vital platform for promoting national unity, youth development, and community service.

“I want to assure you that adequate security measures have been put in place to guarantee your safety during your stay in the state,” he said.

Earlier, the Zamfara state coordinator of the NYSC, Mallam Muhammad Lawan Ahmed, said the orientation course was the foundation of the service year.

He noted that the programme was designed to instill discipline, leadership, patriotism, and the spirit of national unity among participants.

He therefore urged the corps members to obey camp rules and regulations, participate fully in all activities, and build new friendships, while also commending the Zamfara state government for its continued support towards the success of the scheme.
