The crisis rocking the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial district seems not abated despite the unanimous endorsement of the party gubernatorial candidate by stakeholders at the strategic caucus meeting held in Abeokuta.

There has been a running battle between the incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun and former governor, Gbenga Daniel, on who picks the party ticket to represent the Ogun East senatorial district in 2027.

Gbenga Daniel, who is representing the senatorial district is seeking a return to the red chamber for a second term.

The former governor was however, barred from attending the Ogun East stakeholders meeting holding at the Adeola Odutola Hall, Ijebu Ode, Monday.

Daniel disclosued this in a viral video circulating online, where he was seeing addressing his supporters from his white campaign bus, branded with the OGD/PBAT Movement.

“The invitation letter for the emergency stakeholders meeting sent out by the leadership of the party in Ijebu Ode included deputy governors, past and serving local government chairmen, councilors, past and serving members of both the state and National Assemblies, among others, are expected to attend”, he said.

It was alleged that the stakeholders meeting was scheduled to fine tune the process for the district to unanimously endorsed a candidate for the senatorial ticket for the 2027 general election.

“We are here for our Ogun East APC caucus meeting, but surprisingly, we have been barred; we are told that we can’t enter, but let it be said that whatever they do here today is null and void,” Daniel said.
