The Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board has officially opened the application portal for the 2025/2026 Students Special Assistance Scheme (SSAS) Bursary Award Programme for qualified students of Delta State origin studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The bursary programme is part of the Delta State Government’s effort to support students financially and reduce the burden of education on families. The scheme is open to eligible students in universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education approved by relevant authorities.
According to the Board, the application process is completely online and students are expected to complete their registration before the closing date on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
The Board said the programme is aimed at providing financial support to deserving students, encouraging academic excellence, reducing educational hardship, promoting equal access to higher education, and supporting the educational development goals of Delta State.
To qualify for the bursary award, applicants must be indigenes of Delta State and must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN). Applicants are also required to be full-time students in approved tertiary institutions and must have a minimum CGPA of 2.20.
The Board further explained that only students within approved academic levels can apply. University students must be in 200 Level and above, while Polytechnic and Monotechnic applicants must be in ND II or HND II. Students in Colleges of Education must be in NCE II or NCE III.
Postgraduate students, including those studying for PGD, Masters, and PhD programmes, are not eligible for the bursary scheme.
The Board advised students to ensure all information provided during registration is accurate and consistent with their official documents to avoid disqualification during screening or verification exercises.
How to Apply for Delta State 2025/2026 Bursary Programme
Applicants can complete their registration by following the steps below:
- Visit the official Delta State Bursary portal.
- Create a student account or login if you already have an account.
- Fill in the online registration form with the required personal and academic details.
- Upload all necessary documents as requested on the portal.
- Pay the non-refundable processing fee of ₦800 only.
- Submit the completed application form online.
- Print out the acknowledgement slip after submission.
- Participate in physical verification if invited by the Board.
- Wait for approval and payment notification from the Board.
The Board also urged applicants to regularly monitor official communication channels for updates concerning verification dates, approval processes, and payment announcements.
